Missionaries We Support

Andy & Bethany Maier

Andy and Bethany Maier currently live and work as missionaries in Germany. Both of them grew up with multi-cultural backgrounds - Andy German/American, Bethany Canadian/American - then met and married while at Grace College. Valley Springs became their home base in 2006, to which they returned with their 4 children whenever in the US.  After moving to Europe in 1994, they’ve served in such positions as church planters, Sunday school teachers, backpacking and outdoor guide (A), youth leaders, refugee outreach, school librarian (B), and cooks, cleaners or dish washers when needed. Since 2008, Andy has additionally been traveling to Asia to train indigenous pastors and spread God’s love through humanitarian projects.

Steven and Deborah Wise

After 13 years of ministry together in Cambodia as church planters, Steve and Deborah took a year-long sabbatical to consider what God might have next for them. Through rest, spiritual refreshment, prayer, and reflection, they clearly felt the pull to continue investing their lives in others—specifically those in cross-cultural ministry. Acting on that vision they joined Barnabas International in 2014 and began building a ministry in member care. They are currently living in Palmyra, Pennsylvania, balancing various avenues of ministry—from one-on-one video calls to organizing and facilitating retreats, to equipping mission organizations to better care for their own missionaries. They are trained debriefers (MTI) and certified as life coaches (CRM) and spiritual directors (Sustainable Faith).

Through homeownership, families gain stability, security, and safety. This deeply impacts each family, their family, their neighborhood and their community. We also believe in hard work and responsibility. That is why we give a hand up, and not a handout. Each of our families put in hours of real work to be in the program. They make sacrifices. They change their habits. They learn to become even more self-sufficient. Finally, we believe in hope. God extends hope to all of us through his son, Jesus Christ. We extend hope to local families who struggle to gain traction in their lives. Through homeownership, our families learn to overcome obstacles and look to the future with optimism and assurance.
